Many years ago, a group of ladies got together to host a charitable art exhibition in the back yard of a beautiful private garden on the edge of Lake Pupuke in Takapuna.

Several decades on from the first event, Friends of Women’s Refuge puts together an iconic 10 day event every two years.  Proceeds raised go to the New Zealand Women’s Refuge.  Head over and like the page on Facebook to keep in the loop with this amazing exhibition.

And army of volunteers spend months planning, arranging and coordinating this biennial event, that has become an absolutely iconic affair, not only for the North Shore and artistic communities, but for New Zealand in general.  People from all over the country, and even internationally, come to experience this iconic celebration of local and international artists.

A large portion of these proceeds have gone into setting up a high-end second hand clothing boutique called Yellow Belle.

The purpose of these stores is to provide a steady and sustainable source of income, as well as a friendly and accessible community touchstone, where people, if they choose, can find out more about the vital services New Zealand Women’s Refuge offer in our community.

On February 28th 2014 this vision of empowering and engaging venture became an absolute reality when the flagship store opened at 112 Hurstmere Road, Takapuna.

There is an online store, as well as the flagship boutique.

Women can shop confidently, knowing that great lengths have been gone to ensuring quality control and great prices.  This concept makes high-end designer clothing available at a very affordable price.  All the profits from your purchases go to the absolutely essential work Women’s Refuges across New Zealand are doing.
